Oliva U3A have lots to offer

-

January has been a busy month for the Oliva U3A, seeing the start up of seven new groups, including

• Salsa / Bachata lessons

• Padel (beginners and players)

• Photography

• Walking Football

• Yoga (beginners and intermediate)• Knit and Natter (crochet and chat)

• Guitar (acoustic) There's a Philosophy group in the pipeline to begin in February and IT Skills sessions are now being set up, to help sort out all those little niggling problems that the members get so frustrated with.

The first Walking Football session was held on January 25 at Oliva Sports Centre.

Twelve players turned up for a thoroughly good work out and displayed amazing skills, akin to those of Messi and Ronaldo (when asleep). The skills may have blunted over the years but the competitive spirit remains intense, in fact at one point the yellow card almost made an appearance, but since a Yorkshireman was involved, we had to make some allowance.

Enthusiasm remains high and we are all looking forward to our next session on Friday, at the same venue.

If you'd like to give it a go, please come and join us, you'd be very welcome, male and female, all abilities.

The Line-Dancing group held a very well attended 'Taster' session and have now got 10 new members. They are busy practising so they can show off their skills at a Charity event planned for May 25, to be held at El Cid, Benidoleig.

Tickets are available from Betty on 96 808 471, cost €16 per person and includes a meal and drink.

Shine up those spurs an dust down your hat for a great evening out.

There is no better time to join the Oliva U3A and get the body and mind active.

The U3A welcomes new members over the age of 55 and no longer in full time employment.
