Marina Alta Golf Society

- Game at Oliva Nova

With player numbers the same as last week due to some last minute drop outs from some aches and pains, the Marina Alta Golf Society’s game at Oliva Nova on Monday January 28 got off to a blustery start due to the windy conditions that prevailed but on the good side it was dry and not too cold.

The course as expected was in fine shape as the members teed off ready to do their best against the strengthening wind and as a precaution some members checked the ball pocket of their bag to ensure they had enough supplies on hand for the round.

In first place and playing off a 31 handicap was Allan McManus with 31 points. 31 must be his lucky number after this game.

Second place went to Peter Gardiner who playing off a 22 handicap also scored 31 points but lost out to Allan in countback.

In third place was Keith Sinden with 28 points playing off a 20 handicap. Not happy with just being in third place, Keith Sinden also took the prize for the only 2 of the day on hole 16.

Just two NTP prizes on this windy day, Alan Tissington in 2 shots on hole 5 while Keith Sinden collected his third prize for NTP on hole 16.

Two guests also played with the society today and although they enjoyed their experience they did not pick up any prize.

The wind did play a leading role in the number of balls that went flying off course, no tales were told of what could have been a good round, so a bit like what happens on the course stays on the course, so be it.

The Marina Alta Golf Society plays every Monday at the Oliva Nova course. If you want to join this friendly group of golfers as a guest then a warm welcome will be waiting for you.
