Pego Golf Society

- The Pego Putter February 2

It was another cold Tuesday for Pego Golf Society, as they took to the fairways for our second Major Trophy of the year, namely The Pego Putter It was in the form of a bogey competition, which was the original match play in the early days of golf.

It was so cold, and the fingers were numb when we left home for the golf club, but after a hot coffee in the clubhouse, and a delayed start of 30 minutes because of the frost on the greens, the sun peeped through, and never went away again during the round. Just a magnificent morning to play golf and by the 9th hole all the jackets were off, and most wishing that they had gone with shorts on.

There was only one guest today, and that was Peter Hanks.

The results were as follows, and there were only two shots, in the first five players

1st with 3 Up playing off 13.3 handicap was Derek Lindley

2nd with 3 Up playing off 16.9 handicap was Simon Fox

3rd with 3 Up playing off 17.1 handicap was Ian Robertson

4th with 2 Up playing off 18.3 handicap was Celia Cronin

5th with 1 Up playing off 17.7 handicap was Brian Barden

The number of 'balls in the water' today was 80 and there was no winner, so it is a roll over until next week.

Nearest the pin at Hole 5 was Ken Millar with 2,3 metres and at Hole 16 the winner was Alan Barwick with an 8 Iron into the pin, finishing only 1.25 metres from the hole.

There was only one two today, and that was by Derek Lindley, so our player of the week was undoubtedly Derek Lindley. Well played Derek.

If any person would like to play with Pego Golf Society next week, please contact our match secretary Penny Barden at pegohandicapsec@gmail. com, and we would love to see you.
