ADULTS in Benitachell are being offered free English lessons at the Lady Elizabeth School to help master command of one of the world’s most global languages.

Classes will be available on Tuesdays from March 5 until June this year at the international school on Cumbre del Sol.

There are 30 places available and those interested must reserve a place before February 22; the teaching is on a first come, first served basis.

And youngsters are also being given the opportunity to learn English with intensive classes being offered at the school on Saturday mornings between 10.00 and 13.00.

Benitachell town hall’s councillor for education Jorge Pascual and Lady Elizabeth School coordinator Daniel Wolff signed an agreement to open the 'training' for adults – while also renewing the existing Saturday morning children’s classes.

Mr Pascual said the move was a 'giant step' forward in encouraging adults to learn English and if they at- tended 80% of the course, it was free.

“Each student must pay €100 on the first day; that will be returned at the end of the course if they complete 12 or more classes,” he explained.

“The Lady Elizabeth School is five minute from people’s homes, but never before have we been encouraged to hold classes for adults – I want to thank the school for its willingness to support my suggestion to open up to adults and encourage the learning of an important language in the Marina Alta, which has such an international population.”

Youngsters are being offered a 20% discount for the Saturday English school with a further 10% discount for siblings.
