Shakespeare visits the Costa Blanca
PROFESSIONAL theatre comes to the Costa Blanca next month with a highly-anticipated visit by the Czech-based Prague Shakespeare Company.
The company, which tours internationally with its mainly English productions and a heavy emphasis on the Bard’s work, brings one of the classics to life; The Trojan War an Iliad at Careline Theatre’s Alcalali theatre.
First performed in Prague in January last year, it is the first part of a trilogy of three works based around the triumphs and struggles of the civilised world, centred on Helen, the face that launched a thousand ships.
An Iliad is performed on
at Alcalali. Tickets are €15 and the show starts at 20.00 each evening.
An Iliad is one of three parts to the current cycle of the Prague Shakespeare Company’s focus on the heroes and heroines of the Trojan War; triggered by love, it is a story that has inspired, shocked and warned of the horror and destruction of war; the remaining parts are Troilus and Cressida and The Trojan Women. The first part, An Iliad, in itself inspired by Homer’s classic poem and stars Guy Roberts as the Poet and Jessica Boone and Fanette Ronjat as the Muses. The show is directed by Guy and Rebecca Greene Volden.
