Javea Green Bowls

- ‘Healthy Lifestyle Winter Triples’ Competition – Final results

The above competition ended with a bang on Saturday February 9 after nine weeks of play.

On a glorious afternoon of bowling, 10 teams fought it out to try and improve their place in the rankings. In the end though there was no catching the runaway leaders ‘Manada de Lobos’ who were never defeated and ended up with 18 points out of a possible 18. Congratulations are due to the whole team of Alan and Jan Philips, Clive English, Chris Evans, Velia Wood, Trefor Evans, Jean McLaughlin and Chris Salter. They won the Trophy and shared prize money of €480.

In the battle for second place ‘Mavericks’ prevailed with a final score of 16 points, beating ‘Chicochica’ into third place on 13 points. So the ‘Mavericks’ walked away with 360E and ‘Chicochica’ with €160.

Very well done to all our winning teams

Thanks must be given to our sponsors who give so generously. The main sponsors of this event are Specsavers, so we doff our caps gratefully to Mike and Louise Stone.

However, there were many other sponsors involved, so thanks go to Sharron Barton, who offers Osteopathy services for all the family and Jo Black of Kru Hairdressers, Javea, both of whom were able to attend and take part in the prize-giving ceremony.

Javea Green would also like to extend their gratitude to the other sponsors involved who are (in no particular order) – Clinica Asistel, Moraira; Laude Lady Elizabeth School, Benitachell; Bon Retir Residential Care Home, Javea; ZenSmile-Spa, Javea; Senti2, Hearing Specialists, Moraira; Clinica Baviera Eye Specialists, Denia; Syncrolab Fitness and Rehabilitation, Javea; and finally, Jennifer Cunningham expat services, Javea.

No successful competition takes place without the hard work of the organisers of the event, namely competition secretary Keith Hamilton very ably supported by wife Dee.

Well done, another successful and well run competition.

After the presentation of the ‘Healthy Lifestyle Winter Triples’ trophy and cash prizes followed by the photocalls of the winning teams, everyone who participated were treated to a splendid tapas buffet courtesy of Jan Bigsby and her hardworking team, thanks also to Christine, Matthew and Brian who kept everyone watered throughout the weeks of play.

The buffet rounded off nicely a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon’s bowling.
