Alfaz Fantasy Football League

-

Week 24

There were goals galore once again in the Premier League which meant plenty of fantasy points to be had for the Alfaz Fantasy Football League managers.

There were two mid-week games, two F.A. Cup replays and nine games in the Premier League at the weekend which gave the A.F.F.L. a total of 42 goals, 5 clean sheets, 40 yellow cards and 1 red one which was Everton's Zuoma who managed to talk referee Lee Probert into sending him off after the game finished between Watford and Everton. (well you can't say he went for an early bath!).

For the 2nd week running the average score reached 40 points. Referees awarded five more penalties, taking the season's total to 85 when at the same time last season they had only awarded 66. (can't wait for V.A.R. to come in).

At one time John's team Wee Aggies had a 71 point advantage at the top of the A.F.F.L. and it has now been whittled down to only 7 points by Linda's Team Tapas. Andrew's Ballers have moved back in contention in 3rd place and are 4 points ahead of Nick's Black Cats. Only 24 points separate the top 4 teams so it's all to play for as we move into the business end of the season. At the opposite end of the table, Gary's Upside Team are now trailing Richard's Dunkrat by 87 points.

There is a real ding dong battle going on at the top of our junior league between Young Ollie's Olly F.C. and Harley's Ginger Ninjar, currently Olly F.C. hold a single point advantage over the Ninjars while coming up fast on the rails is T J's Blue Moon F.C. who are only 9 points behind the leaders while down in the basement Fleetwood Gian are having a tough time to keep up with rest of the pack as the gap now is a formidable 56 points.

Linda's Team Tapas have extended their lead at the top of our Mark Carter Ladies Section to 34 points over Barbra's XI. At the foot of the table, Sandra's Brazilian Hooligans have replaced Liz's Cookies Crew and are 7 points adrift of safety.

With so many goals being scored Bill's team East Fifers are doing remarkable well to hold on to summit of our Across the Costa's Golden Boot League, his top player is Liverpool's Mo Salah who chipped in with a goal against Bournemouth at Anfield.

Kevin's Two for the Road have replaced Nick's Black Cats in 2nd place and are 20 points behind the Fifers.

Gary's Upside Team remain in the bottom spot 15 points behind Casper's Bar.

Two teams will go into our monthly wine draw and they are out top scoring team which was Jimmy's Nicks Blues who scored a massive 84 points thanks to his beloved Manchester City Players who scored 83 of them, the other point came from Leicester City's Iheanacho.

Joining them will be our lowest scoring team Luna's Liver Birds who only managed a minus 1.

In our Champion of Champions league Joe's Keith Lard F.C. have made good progress and are now only 19 points behind Pauline's Vodka Army at the top.

Dave's team The Hatters had a great week bagging 68 points which leaves him just 3 points away from Leo's Power Blueboys.

There wwere F.A. Cup replays last week which had no influence at the top of our F.A. cup league where The Hatters still have a fragile 4 point advantage over Liz's Cookies Crew. Dave's Liverpool Way are joint bottom with Tom's Quantrill's Raiders both on 3 points.

Manager of the month for February is being kindly sponsored by Jordi at The Kasbrane in Albir, who provide excellent food at reasonable prices along with a super view of Albir beach.

With just a couple of weeks gone Linda's Team Tapas lead the way with a 17 point advantage over Craig's Leeds, Leeds. William and Henry and Nicks Black Cats are also well in the running in 3rd and 4th place for this super meal for two at The Kasbrane.

Don't forget it's the 5th round of the F.A. Cup this weekend and it's important to keep your players in the cup to pick up extra points in the final run into end of the season which could prove pivotal.
