Stableford competition, February 12

-

Well winter is still here, judging by the low temperature when we arrived at Oliva Nova this morning. The temperature was 4 degrees, and that was 07.45, and the greens were frozen until 09.00, so it was coffee and more coffee until the allotted time.

We had two welcome guests today, and they were Chris Andersen and Bob Seaton, and both were welcomed warmly by our Captain Bill Pike, along with the 31 members.

Results of Nearest the Pin at hole 5 and Hole 16 were as follows:- Hole No 5 with second shot:- Penny Barden at 5.42 meters and at hole 16 closest was Steve Patton at 1.77 meters.

There were two 2’s today and firstly was Graham Borley at the 6th hole and secondly Steve Patton at the 16th

In the Balls in the Water competition, the winner was Nigel Siddal with 88 Balls. This was a roll over, so many congrats Nigel.

In the main event, the winners were as follows:

Division 1

1st Roy Jones with 37 p` oints playing off 16.4

2nd Penny Barden with 36 points playing off 14.4

3rd Steve Patton playing off 11.8

4th Ian Robertson playing off 15.9

One final comment was that one of our members, John Evans was made a Great Grandfather yesterday so our warm congratulations go to the happy family and to John and his wife.

Finally our player of the day today with consistency was Steve Patton who was nearest at Hole 16, also got a two out of the hole, and finished third in the whole competition.

We were delighted today to welcome back Paul Sankey, who suffered a heart attack back in the UK, but has now, thankfully overcome everything and is back playing golf again.

Welcome back Paul.
