Juan Gil-Albert institute music cycle
THE JUAN Gil-Albert cultural institute’s Casa Bardín in Alicante is hosting its fourth music cycle.
The initiative forms part of the institute’s Música Joven en la Casa Bardín series of chamber concerts and conferences, which run until May 28, and features a total of six performances by students from the Óscar Esplá conservatory.
It was inaugurated with an evening of music entitled ‘three centuries of string music’ on January 29.
The next concert in the series – 20th century Mediterranean vocal music takes place on February 26.
This is followed on March 26 with a performance entitled Dona + música, where all of the performers will be women, and on April 30 the concert is called pianistic romanticism.
The final two events are commemorative concerts and commence on May 7 with a memorial performance for the 40th anniversary of the death of the Alicante composer Rafael Rodríguez Albert, who died on February 15, 1979; and on May 28 the institute’s namesake, the essayist and poet Juan Gil-Albert will be remembered in the year of the 25th anniversary of his death in 1994. The concert will feature music written by students of the Óscar Esplá conservatory that was inspired by Gil-Albert’s writings.
All performances commence at 19.30. Casa Bardín is situated at Calle San Fernando 44, Alicante.
