Gran Alacant Oldies Walking Football Club

The Gran Alacant Oldies Walking Football Club was started back in late 2017 with eight players. We play every week of the year at the indoor Gran Alacant sports centre where we have clocked up over 70 weekly sessions.

We now have around 40 players on our books and have now expanded to play competitive outdoor friendlies.

February 17 saw attendance records smashed when 21 players turned up to join in with our Thursday session of the session.

With this in mind, we are now looking at extending our playing time to 1½ hours, when necessary, still starting at 12 noon, so that everyone gets plenty of playing time.

We now contribute over €650 to the sports centre and town hall with our sessions here on GA and competitive games held in Santa Pola.

To date, two of these home matches have been held at the Pereira Stadium in Santa Pola.

Both have been won by a two nil score line.

Gary Beeney and Tim Litherland scored the Hondon game goals and in the game against San Miquel the goal, scorers were Gary Beeney and David Lamb.

Fourteen of the Thursday regulars made themselves available for the second game giving us 9 players on the pitch plus 7 substitutes cheering on from the sidelines.

After both games, we met at the smashing Tango Bar in Santa Pola, where we all congregate after the games for a buffet and drinks.
