Wine and Dine at the Kaktus
On Wednesday, April 10 the members enjoyed a British style buffet at the Kaktus Hotel in Albir (top left photo). At 8pm it was time to go downstairs to the restaurant where tables had been especially set aside for U3A members. Drinks were ordered and lots of chatter ensued before heading for the extensive buffet and was followed by a choice of desserts.
After the meal some of the members went upstairs into the ballroom for coffee and to listen to live music and dancing.
Many thanks to the organisers Ann Wilson and Hazel Layt for planning the mid week event and now the members are looking forward to the next event, which is a trip to Restaurant Solana, Alcalali, on Friday, May 10.
Gandia visit
On Friday, April 12 a group of 30 members visited Gandia for a guided tour of the Ducal Palace. This is a hidden gem within the old town area of Gandia (photos top right and bottom ).
It was home to the Borja family from the late 15th century and was the birthplace of Saint Francis Borja.
There are some spectacular rooms with stunning decorative ceilings and walls which have been carefully restored to their original state. This is a striking palace and well worthy of a visit.
Following the tour we had a meal in a restaurant close to the harbour and beach, where we had time to enjoy the view and the sunshine. On our way home we stopped in Moraira for a stroll and a drink before returning to Albir.

U3A Marina Baixa holds its general meetings on the fourth Monday of each month at the auditorium in the Casa de Cultura, Alfaz del Pi.
