Charity fun day and netball tournament

-

A fun day has been organised for Saturday, September 21 at the Brew Rock, located on the beach front between Altea and Albir, in honour of two ladies – Lynne Ward and Caroline Lambert both of who were members of the Alfaz Netball Team but sadly lost their battle to cancer last December.

Firstly there will be netball tournament to kick off the day, starting at 12 noon and takes place at the campsite next to Brew Rock. Hosted by local team Alfaz Netball (pictured), there will be seven visiting teams taking part from Valencia, Pinosa, Rojales, Javea and La Manga, followed by a trophy presentation at around 4.30pm by the Mayor Vicente Arques and Councillor for Sport Oscar Pérez Quesada.

There will be a DJ on at Brew Rock from 12 noon and live entertainment from 5pm onwards from the likes of Pablo Bloom, The Jersey Boys, Mick The Flute plus many more, and raffles and an auction – with the opportunity of winning a week’s holiday for 2, face painting for the children, delicious food to enjoy plus many more surprises going on late into the evening.

The support from the local community has been amazing and the day will be a fun filled event all in a good cause. National statistics reveal that 1 in 3 will be affected by cancer and the devastation it causes not only to the one diagnosed but family and children left behind is heart breaking.

A portion of the money raised will be going to MABS – a local Cancer Support charity that helped Lynn throughout her illness, supplying a hospital bed and chair and providing carers 3 times a day to help her and the family – all free of charge - as a gesture of thanks for all that they did.

Caroline’s family will also be donating to a charity of their choice.

Let’s all help make this an unforgettable day in memory of two very special ladies – Lynne and Caroline.
