Pego three-day trade fair

- By Samantha Kett

SHOPS and service providers will give the public a taster of what they can offer them this weekend – without the need to trawl round the high street or surf the Yellow Pages: Pego's second annual trade fair raises its blinds at 10.00 this morning, Friday, September 27, the start of three days' worth of mooching around, buying more stuff and finding out where to go to sort your life out.

A good example of the latter includes car and motorcycle mechanical workshops, which have joined the trade fair for 2019, along with two start-ups in the industry, plus everything else from electronics to insurance companies – and, of course, designer and bespoke boutiques, of which Pego is home to a handful, and they're highly-prized and heavily-frequented.

The tourist information office and Ràdio Pego will also have stands at the fair – restaurants and bars won't, but they'll nearly all be offering a special cut-price paella-based menú del día on their usual premises instead, so you can make a day of it and bring all the family.

Today is set to be the most action-packed – a speed-painting competition in the morning, with prize money to third place, plus children's sports and games activities and storytelling, live music from noon by the band Trilogy, and more open-air entertainment with the band Tamden in the afternoon, followed by an evening meal for everyone.

The fair runs from today through to Sunday evening inclusive – although today is a bank holiday in Pego in honour of its patron saint, Sant Miquel; but a bank holiday with a difference, since you can still do your shopping, except from street stalls.

As a nod to the patron, the trade fair will take place on the street that bears his name – C/ Sant Miquel.
