Moors and Christians fiestas in Calpe

THE EVER popular Moors and Christians celebrations commence in Calpe.

The main event begins on Friday evening with a parade of music bands followed by the spectacular Moors and Christians parade.

The programme follows:

Friday, October 18

13.00: Ringing of the bells to begin the fiesta.

19.00: Entrance of bands from Plaza Colón to the Plaza del Mosquit.

20.00: Beginning of the Moors and Christians and raising of banners in the Plaza Mayor.

At the end of the act, there will be an offering of candles to the Santíssim Crist de la Suor.

00.30: Parades in the old town.

01:30: Dance of the Flag Bearer. Plaza Arco Iris.

Saturday, October 19 12.30: Children's parade. Old Town

19.00: Moors and Christians entrance “The Parade”. Avenida Gabriel Miró.

01:00: Dance of the Moors Captain. Calle San José.

Sunday, October 20

11.00: Disembarkation and first battle. Arenal Beach - Bol.

18.00: Children's Parade. Avenida Gabriel Miró.

20.30: Parliament, second battle and "Miracle". Plaza Mayor.

Monday, October 21

19.00: Children’s games. Plaza de España.

23.15: Correfocs (Running with fire). Begins from Plaza Arco Iris.

00.30: Mascletà in Plaza Mayor.

01.00: Dance of the Christian Captain. Plaza Mosquit Square - Calle Cervantes. Tuesday, October 22

12.00: Solemn Mass in honor of the Santíssim Crist de la Suor. Plaza Mayor.

12.45: Mascletà. Plaza Mayor. Once the Mascletà has finished, transfer of Christ to the Church Virgin de las Nieves.

17.00: Pilota match in Calle García Ortiz.

20.00: Procession. Old Town.
