Elche orchestra comes of age
2019/2020 series of concerts gets underway this weekend
DETAILS of the city of Elche symphony orchestra (OSCE) 2019/2020 concert season have been released.
Under the title of La edad de la madurez (the age of maturity), the season features six concerts at the city’s Gran Teatro.
General admission for each concert ranges from €14 to €18, except the New Year performance, which is €18 to €22.
Season tickets, covering all concerts, offer a 40% discount and range from €52 to €68.
All tickets are available from the theatre box office
Unless stated all performances will be conducted by Mihnea Ignat and start at 20.00, except the New Year concert, which gets underway at 19.00.

Saturday, October 19: OSCE with the acclaimed young Ukrainian violinist Eva Rabchevska give a concert entitled ‘do you like Brahms’, and features the composer’s Violin Concerto in D major and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 Wednesday, January 1: OSCE New Year concert with works by Enescu, Liszt, Brahms, Dvorák, Strauss and Von Suppé
Saturday, February 15: The young Austrian director Felix Hornbacher conducts OSCE and the harpist Sara Esturillo in a concert entitled Música Diáfana (diaphanous music), featuring works by Roussel, Händel, Debussy and Haydn Saturday, March 14: OSCE and the clarinettist César Martín in a concert entitled Los Adioses (the goodbyes), with Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto and Haydn’s Symphony No. 45
Saturday, April 4: Easter concert featuring OSCE with the soprano Teresa Albero and baritone Gabriel Alonso Díaz accompanied by the city of Elche chamber choir, who will perform Haydn’s Symphony No. 49 (The Passion) and Fauré’s Requiem for choir, soloists and orchestra Saturday, May 20: OSCE with Antonio Egea (violin) and David Apellániz (cello) in a concert called ¿Os ha Gustado Brahms? (have you enjoyed Brahms?), containing Brahms Double Concerto and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 (Scottish Symphony)
