On October 9 our fourth match of the winter league was due to be fished on section B2 of the Rio Jucar. However, when we arrived at the river we found another club were already fishing a match on sections B1 and B2,
We decided to fish section A3, which he had fished the previous week, but it was the nearest and easiest choice.
It was very pleasantly sunny with hardly a breath of wind and a temperature of twenty one degrees as the section was pegged and the thirteen members drew for their spots.
The match began at 9.45 a.m. and Jason Lawson landed a fish with his first cast, leading us to hope that the section was going to fish better than last week. How wrong could we be! It was almost an hour before the second fish was landed. As the day progressed things didn’t improve for most anglers. Only Jacques Janssen, fishing a peg which only produced one fish last week, was having any measure of success. Graham Sewell was managing to hook a number of fish, but only managed to land two out of eight, much to his annoyance. A few other anglers managed to land the odd fish, but when the match ended at 2.45 p.m., six members were left with empty nets. A disastrous day for almost half of those taking part.

4th. Jason Lawson (Arrows) Peg 4 (A3/17) 2 fish, 2.95 kilos
5th. Ray Turvey (Camouflage) Peg 7 (A3/11) 1 fish1.93 kilos. 6th. Derek Jones, 7th Malcolm Delooze
In total, 18 carp were caught for a total weight of 23.40 kilos.
