Alfaz Fantasy Football League

-

Week 9:

After what seemed like an eternity the penultimate International Break of 2019 is over and it was back to normal for the Premier League & Alfaz Fantasy Football League at the weekend. England's performance against Bulgaria bodes well for the future providing they can keep the racists away from the stadiums.

There were nine Premier League games which supplied the A.F.F.L. with 17 goals (lowest so far this season) 5 clean sheets, 33 yellow cards and 1 red one which was Brighton's on loan Mooy who was dismissed by referee David Coote after receiving 2 yellow cards. For the secondweek running the average score was under 20 points.

Kapur's Napali Eleven remain at the top of the A.F.F.L. with a very narrow 3 point lead over two teams - Keith's Max & Paddy and Isobel's team The Bluebells who are in joint 2nd place. Our Napali manager Kapur is now coming under pressure since Norwich's Finnish striker Pukki has stopped finding the back of the net. Debbie's Foxy Filberts have moved up two places to 4th while Graham's Fast Pack-York stay in joint 5th spot with Pauline's Vodka Army. Bob's team The Strikers are still in the bottom spot as they now trail Romeo's My Dad Supports Liverpool by 6 points.

No change in the top three Junior League positions where Harley's Ginger Ninjar are still at the summit keeping Luca's Lucky Red F.C. and Olly's 11 in 2nd and 3rd place. At the other end of the table, Romeo's My Dad Supports Liverpool have been cut adrift of the pack and are now in all kinds of trouble 44 points behind William and Henry Two.

Isobel's Bluebells now have a 9 point advantage at the top of our Mark Carter Ladies Section over Debbie's Foxy Filberts. Annette's team Hairnette made up ground on the leaders and have moved into 4th slot.

Down at the foot of the table, two teams are sharing the task of holding the rest of the girls up, Gil's Kippax and Lyn's Handbrake City both 13 points away from Karen's Ceasar's Blackcats.

Keith's team Max and Paddy are going from strength to strength at the top of our Champion of Champions League and now have a comfortable 16 point lead over Pauline's Vodka Army. Martin's Marauder hang on to 3rd place, 10 points above Terry's team Come on you Cockers. Two lady managers are at the foot of the table, and they are Gil's Kippax who trail Luna's Liver Birds by 13 points.

It was all quiet in our Across the Costa's Golden Boot League with goals in short supply. However we did manage to get new leaders at the top when Dean's team, Showbiz knocked Lee's Athletico Higgo off the top and took a slight 4 point advantage over them. Lucy's Luck & Lucky Red F.C. share 3rd place while at the opposite end of the table, Terry's Could it be This Year might get their wish and go through the Trap Door as they are 2 points behind Mark's Inter Rubber.

Four teams enter our October monthly wine draw and they are Santa Clara Kickers, who top scored with a tally of 44 points and three more teams who only managed to score a lowly 4 points - Luna's Liver, Birds, Saints Alive and Left backers. September winner was Jenny's Madam Tree

Manager of the month for October is sponsored by Darren and Scott at Sarita's Restaurant in Albir. With only one week to go Liz's Leia's Yum Yums have taken a 6 point lead over The Camels. Four teams are also well in contention for this super meal for two - Hannakins, Rhuddlan Reds, Duffy Duck and Santa Clara Kickers.

The 1st round of our K.O.Cup competition is on the weekend of November 2 and last year’s winners of this exciting competition Martin's Marauders will take on Left backers in what could be a shock result while our top Junior team Ginger Ninjar are up against Sarita's F.C. Don't forget any replays will take place the following week.
