Alfaz Fantasy Football League

-

Week 10

There was an explosion of goals in the Premier League last weekend courtesy of Leicester City who slammed sad Southampton 9-0 in the Friday night game at St. Mary's Stadium. Altogether there was 39 goals, 5 clean sheets, 47 yellow cards (most so far this season) and three red ones which was Manchester City's stand in centre half Fernandinho, Southampton's Bertrand and Newcastle's youngster Sean Longstaff which took this season's red cards up to 16.

The average score for the week reached a high of just over 29 points which was supplemented by three HatTrick heroes, two from the Foxes, the inform Jamie Vardy, Ayoze Perez and Chelsea's all American boy Christian Pulisic, who scored a perfect hattrick in the Pensioners 4-2 win at Turf Moor.

Throw in a couple of own goals and 6 penalties, 2 missed (I won't say who by) it makes for an exciting weekend which was had by all, unless you are a Saints fan!

Well for the fifth week running Kapur's team, Napali Eleven have held on the top spot of the Alfaz Fantasy Football League and have also increased their advantage at the summit to 7 points, over Chris's Promotion Again who shot up 17 places after getting this week’s top score of 72 points.

Martin's Marauders was also on the move by climbing up 5 places to 3rd and are just 1 point behind Chris's team.

Two of our lady managers teams are in joint 4th place, Isobel's Bluebells and Pauline's Vodka Army, while the team to watch out for are former front-runners of the

A.F.F.L. Tony Red's Miles Platting Swifts who have scored 124 points in the last three weeks.

At the other end of the table, Romeo's My Dad Supports Liverpool have replaced Bob's team, The Strikers and are now 2 points away from Lyn's Handbrake City.

We have a new leader at the top of our Junior League with Luca's Lucky Red F.C. taking over from Harley's Ginger Ninjar with a 21 point advantage.

Olly's 11 are just hanging on to 3rd place and are coming under pressure from last year’s winners of this section, William and Henry who are 4 points behind them.

It's a bit early to say it's all over for Romeo's team My Dad Supports Liverpool, but at the moment they trail William and Henry Two by a massive 52 points at the bottom.

In our Mark Carter Ladies Section Pauline's Vodka Army have joined Isobel's team The Bluebells, at the summit and are both on 372 points, which is 11 points more than Debbie's Foxy Filberts.

Down in the basement, Lyn’s Handbrake City, who are no strangers to a relegation battle are 5 points away from Gil's Kippax.

With so many goals being scored it meant plenty of changes at the top of our Across the Costa's Golden Boot League.

Martin's Marauders who won our K.O. Cup competition last season have become the 8th team to lead this League.

Luca's Lucky Red F.C. are just 2 points behind the leaders, while Chris's Promotion again have leapt up 19 places to 3rd.

Last week’s front-runners Showbiz have slipped down to 4th spot.

Terry's team, Could it be This Year are struggling to get away from the bottom spot and have been there for the last 4 weeks. At the moment they are 12 points adrift of Mark's Inter Rubber.

There has also been a shakeup in our Champion of Champions League with Martin's Marauders taking charge with a fragile 1 point gap over Pauline's Vodka Army.

Keith's Max and Paddy have dropped 13 points away from the 2 Leaders.

At the foot of the table, Gil's Kippax have been holding everybody else for the last 6 weeks with Luna's Liver Birds for company, who are just 8 points in front.

The last two teams to go into our monthly wine draw for October are our top scoring team which was Chris's Promotion Again, who rattled up 72 points and our lowest scoring team which was Liz's Saints Alive who only scored a minus 3.

Manager of the month for October has been kindly sponsored by Scott and Darren at the Sarita's Restaurant in Albir. This month's lucky winner was Tony Red's team, Miles Platting Swifts who clocked up 124 points which was 2 more than 3 teams Promotion Again, Martin's Marauders and For Fuchs Sake.

I'm sure Tony and his wife Lilian will enjoy this super meal for two at this great restaurant.

The 1strRound of our K.O Cup competition takes place this week with favourites Napali Eleven up against lowly placed William and Henry Two.

Good Luck to all the teams taking part, if any of the ties finish level the replays will take place the following week.
