Mediterranean Rallye
For the fourth consecutive year, La Nucia will be hosting the Mediterranean Rallye – La Nucia Costa Blanca Trophy
– a two-day event starting today.
The event will bring together 70 of the best drivers of the Spanish Asphalt Rally Championship, who will roar through 36 municipalities of the Alicante mountain, covering 520km.
This leg will be the tenth and penultimate scoring event of the 2019 Spanish Championship which is organised by the Federation of Motoring of the Valencian Community (FACV), the Automobile Club AIA, Alicante Regional Government and La Nucia Town Hall.
The current leader boards has Iván Arés (Hyundai) in the lead on 241 points, followed in second place by José María López (Citroën) with 215 points and in third position with 209 points is Even Surhayen.
But this could all change as the current 6 times Spanish champion of Spain, Miguel Fuster will be participating despite not competing this year at CERA.
Organisers estimate that 160,000 spectators will watch at some point as the rally crosses the different towns.
Tonight – Friday, at 8pm there will be a timed section at Karting Finestrat, which will be broadcast live on streaming.
On Saturday they will set off from 7am from the Camino Cano Sports Stadium, with sections passing through Relleu-Penàguila, GorgaFacheca, Famorca-Castells, Relleu-Penàguila, GorgaQuatretondeta-Gorga and Alcoi-Benilloba, ending at around 9pm with a presentation ceremony.
The drivers are expected to pass through the stadium up to four times, where mechanics will be at the ready, so probably a great place to be if you are an enthusiast.
