Today we played the first round of the Doubles Knock-out Matchplay competition. Again, for this competition we were playing off the regulation tees, except for holes 9 and 16 where we used the tees of the day as on these two holes the regulation tees were not playable. Also, on the par three hole 14, the men played from the front of the white tee box as the yellow tee is under maintenance. There were five matches in total. The match between Jean-Paul and Nick versus Eddy Fagg and Marie-Jo was all square after 18 holes and in the end, Jean-Paul and Nick came out the winner on the 19th hole.

The second round of the Doubles will have to be completed by November, the 27. There were 16 members and three guests who did not take part in the knock-outs and again, like last week, they were playing non-qualifying Individual Stableford and competed for the best three places and a guest prize. We welcomed back Rob Ritchie, who duly made his mark on hole 4 with a birdie.

The weather was beautiful, so prize giving was on the back terrace of the Club. Thank you to Jan for organising today’s activities. Summarising the results: Guest prize: Michel Allanic with 36 points.
