- By Jo Pugh Five wins for local football teams and more than forty medals in Taekwondo

Football teams from Finestrat had an almost perfect weekend, with many victories from the different ages of players.

Benjamin B vs CF Alfas del Pi – 7-3 win

A great match played on a sunny Sunday morning. The boys played exceptiona­lly well, and fought until the end.

Benjamin A vs CE EMF Pedreguer – 3-2 win

This was a very tight victory for the youngsters. Many chances at goal were created, but the Benjamins could only manage three goals.

CF United Elche vs Alevín B – 6-0 loss

A difficult game against a good CF United Elche surprised Alevín B with four goals against them,

CE EMF Pedreguer vs Alevín A 10-0 win

This match was played at noon on Saturday at the municipal Poliesport­iu de Pedreguer.

In the second half the Finestrat team showed a faster and more colourful game, gaining five goals in just 15 minutes.

Cadet vs CE Esport Viu Ondara – 2-1 win

This match was played in Finestrat where the locals took the victory. In the first half, there didn’t seem to be a lot of action, so the half-time whistle blew at 0-0.

In the second half, the team changed tactics, It was not until the last minutes when the scoreboard moved, with a sudden rush of three goals in three minutes, leaving the score at a tight 2-1.

CF Foietes de Benidorm vs Juvenile - 3-1 win

This was a very intense game and a well-deserved victory. All this was based on a good defensive organisati­on and a great use of attacking actions.

Finestrat Volleyball Club

Exegur Security Finestrat children's team won 3-2 against CV Oliva during a match in which Finestrat were primarily losing. Eventually, they turned the game around and were proclaimed winners.

Taekwondo Finestrat Club

The athletes of the Taekwondo Finestrat Club participat­ed last weekend in the Open City of Benidorm in ‘poomsae’ mode where they won more than 40 medals: 27 gold, 5 silver and 9 bronzes. Looking ahead to this weekend, three competitor­s of the Taekwondo Finestrat Club, Lucía González, María Vidal and Marina Rodríguez, move to Pontevedra to play the National League of Poomsae.

Costa Blanca Trails

The second day of

specific training to prepare for the longest distance races on the Costa Blanca Trails that will take place on November 16. Last Saturday,

the training route covered a distance of 26 kilometres and an incline of 1,450 metres.
