CB Walks and Maps

Our friendly group offers free guided walks on Wednesdays and Saturdays from October to May, in the Benidorm, Calpe and Jalon areas. Wednesday walks are easy, Saturday walks are more challenging!

Both are followed by a social drink. Boots must be worn and a car is needed to access most starts. Come along, enjoy the scenery and make new friends. For those who prefer independent walking we also offer 180 hand drawn, easy to read, sketch maps of walking routes of the above areas, available for free download.

These range in standard from hard mountain hikes to short country strolls, so there is a walk for everyone!

Please see our website www. costablancawalks.weebly.com for more info.

In your face - book, actually! After our General Assembly last Thursday, November 7, Gemma Broad, of Telitec, gave a full-house of members a talk on Facebook security – as reported here by Lorraine Bellami.

Regardless of what one feels about social media, it is here to stay and seems to be taking over. I am not a technophoebe, more a tech-inept, but judging by the blank looks on many of the faces in the audience, many of us are neither Twitterati nor Apparazzi skilled!

Gemma took us through the process of setting up a Facebook page, with the proviso that strict security is essential. A login password needs to be memorable, but not obvious, such as 123456 / date of birth etc. too easy to 'crack' if you have your laptop stolen. Keep the page closed to all but 'friends' so that your information is not public. You can allow, or decline and block unwelcome approaches, and keep your personal information to a minimum.

Roots entertainers of Spain. We promote and encourage social integration and music appreciation.

I would think that most of our members have family who use Facebook - and children have an uncanny knack of keeping their friends informed about every aspect of their lives. Be careful what is being posted as you may inadvertently, give potential burglars information that your house will be empty for a while. So, if you don't have a Facebook page yourself, you might like to warn younger users of the risks of 'too much information'.

Facebook OWN all information posted on it, including photos. Be warned!

Facebook offer options for two-factor authentication and third-party security messages to stop security breaches, and Gemma advised users to make sure their Facebook page is as secure as possible.

Gemma suggested if you receive spam emails, purporting
