THE LAST game of the year for aA Vila rugby club, played away at the La Foixarda pitch against BUC Barcelona closed with a tight 28-33 win for the blues and whites. After a promising start for BUC Barcelona, the blue and whites adapted to the environment before a determined Catalan team. The impatience to secure points and pressure from their rivals caused La Vila block to commit early, and at half time the score was an impressive 6-17 to La Vila.

The second half offered a very similar start at the start of the match, with a consolidated front on the offensive, but the course of the game took an unexpected turn in the last 20 minutes, when the Barcelona team decided on risky strategies, which seemed to pay off.

The insistence of the Catalans had its fruits with goals from Bucciarelli and Torró. But La Vila knew how to counterattack, taking advantage of the oppositions tactics and gain a conversion from Jara. La Vila player Marcos Benítez then faced a red card, which could have been a turning point in the outcome of the match. Barcelona knew how to manage numerical superiority and Boushiba scored a try. Even so, La Vila endured the storm with confidence and conviction, and closed the match with a final 28-33.

La Vila close the year in fourth position with 43 points, with a balance of 9 wins and 4 losses. Their first game of 2020 is at home where they face the XV Babarians on Sunday, January 12.
