Former Slovakian consul found dead at his home
Guardia Civil are investigating the seemingly violent death of Marat Dzachanovic Sabalakov, who was the ex-consul of Slovakia in his native Kazakhstan, The body of 53-year-old Sabalakov a native of the Kazakh city of Almaty, was found by a gardener, at the rented villa he lived at, in the Miramar urbanisation, located on the road between La Nucia and Altea, on Tuesday afternoon. The gardener called emergency services who were quickly on the scene. First to arrive were a Guardia Civil patrol who seeing the man was dead and initially suspecting foul play, called in a homicide team from Alicante as well as crime scene technicians to carry inspect the property. Sabalakov's body was found lying face down at the foot of stairs that connect the garden to the house.
At first it was thought he could have fallen accidentally, but the positioning of the body and the fact he had a strong blow to the back of his head, and there were traces of blood inside the house, as well as next to his body, led investigators to suspect he could have been murdered, hence the case was being handled as a possible homicide. The judge on duty at the time of his death, ordered an autopsy at Alicante's Institue of Legal Medicine which revealed that the blow to his head did not kill him, and that he did in fact die of natural causes consequence of a chronic illness that provoked a multi-organ failure and fatal internal bleeding. Investigators also found no signs of a break in or robbery at the victim’s home, no doors or windows had been forced.
