The Black-Eyed Peas order guitar from Costa craftsmen

Family-run Guitarras Bros' celebrity clientèle also includes Amy Winehouse and Will Smith

A GATA craft shop which has made guitars for Amy Winehouse and Will Smith got a personal call from The Black-Eyed Peas asking for a new instrument, adding them to the evergrowing list of national and international stars whose music is made on wood and strings from the Marina Alta.

Guitarras Bros, run by brothers Adam, Juan and David Broseta – who took over running the family business when their father Francisco died in 2018 – created the guitar which the late Amy Winehouse used on her hit album Back to Black, including the title track, and which surely helped her to win the five Grammy awards the release netted.

Hollywood actor Will Smith received a personalised version in June last year on the chaotic comedy talk show El Hormiguero ('The Ant's Nest'), which Francisco Broseta had engraved shortly before his death, since Smith was his favourite silver-screen star.

El Hormiguero presenter Pablo Motos is fond of handing out Broseta guitars on his show, and has given them to actors Tom Hanks, Russell Crowe, Richard Gere, Jeremy Irons, Suffolk-born pop sensation Ed Sheeran, and singer and former French First Lady Carla Bruni.

Adam Broseta said that, naturally, he dropped everything when The Black-Eyed Peas' lead singer,

Will.i.am, called him from Madrid, where they had been for several months recording their next studio album.

“I took two different types with me so they could choose between them, but they decided to buy both,” says Adam.

“Then I spent the whole weekend in the studio with them. It was a brilliant experience.”

Whilst there, Adam also got to meet two of Spain's biggest pop and rock artists and fans of Guitarras Bros, C. Tangana and The Voice judge Melendi.

Adam's experience was too good to keep to himself, so his brother David joined him when they were invited onto El Hormiguero along with Will Smith himself and actor Martin Lawrence, who talked about their upcoming film Bad Boys for Life.

The Black-Eyed Peas were also on the show since they will be working with Colombian Reggaeton star J Balvín – who has won four Latin Grammys in as many years, received 14 nominations, and two nominations for the mainstream

Grammys – on the film's main soundtrack, Ritmo.

So far, Will.i.am and the band behind the catchy dance track I Gotta Feeling are the most-decorated of Guitarras Bros' clients, with six Grammy awards to their name.

As well as their leader, The Black-Eyed Peas are made up of vocalists Apl.de.Ap, Taboo, and The Voice Philippines contestant Jessica Reynoso, who takes over from Fergie (Stacy Ann Ferguson) following her departure to go solo five years ago.
