FILM SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Feb 15: The acclaimed Film Symphony Orchestra (FSO) will be performing at the Palacio de Congresos.

This FSO Tour is a must-see for anyone who enjoys watching movies, with melodies from numerous classic and modern works being played live by dozens of profession­al musicians in a beautiful setting - the city’s Palacio de los Congresos. From Avengers: Endgame to Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, Back to the Future, Jurassic World and many more, attendees are guaranteed to recognise a number of songs – if not all!

The Palacio de los Congresos is located at the Avda Cortes Valenciana­s, 60, and attendees are encouraged to get their tickets well in advance, as they tend to sell out. Tickets cost €36 and can be purchased from the www.servientra­das.com online platform.

MOUNTAIN BIKE CIRCUIT

Jan 19: Over 200 cyclists have already registered to take part, which will cover a distance of just over 13km and 600mt incline, passing through different points in Albir.

The '2nd Crono escalada' bike race is setting off at 9.30am from the Albir Gardens resort hotel. It is one of Europe’s hardest and most challengin­g routes which has been sponsored by Paola Zahonero, one of the best cyclists in the Valencian Community. Be prepared that a number of roads will possibly be cut off to traffic near Albir Gardens that morning.

LA VOLTA CYCLING RACE (STAGE 2)

Jan 19: The Volta La Marina 2020 cycling race continues this Sunday and starts from Jalón. The cycling race, with this stage being 64.6 kilometres, will depart Jalón at 10.00, with the initial part of the race taking place between the towns of Llíber, Senija, Jalón, Alcalalí, Murla, Benigembla, Parcent, Alcalalí and back to Jalón. At around 10.50, the cyclists will then continue towards Benissa and take the turn onto the CV749 towards Pinos, continuing towards Maserof, climbing to 605 metres at the Bernia. The race returns to Jalón and is expected to finish at 11.41.

One hundred and eighty competitor­s will take part in La Volta.

The categories include junior, under 23, under 30, under 40 and women.

The next stage will depart from Javea on Sunday, January 26.

'TALES OF FISHERMEN AND THE SEA' TOUR

Jan 26: THE Oceanograp­hic Foundation has organised guided tours in Javea under the banner ‘Marine Stories’ for the second year.

The tour is free and open to the public - although it is necessary to register

This tour is called ‘Stories of fishermen, salted fish and seafood recipes’.

People should meet at 10.20 at the fish market in Javea port. It will explain different forms if fishing and the species that are commonly caught. In addition, fishermen will explain how fish was traditiona­lly salted and canned.

TRAIL LA MARINA

Jan 26: the Castell d’Aixà Trial circuit run that is part of Trail La Marina will take place in Lliber.

VALENCIA FAMILY TOURS

EVERY SATURDAY: Take in the sights and history in a fun way with the Valencia Family Tours. Aimed at showing families with children around the city, the tour includes games and activities to make sure attendees learn about the great Valencia landmarks while having fun.

MICRO THEATRE FESTIVAL

Feb 1: The first edition of the ‘micro theatre festival’.

NATURE lovers can celebrate Internatio­nal Wetlands Day with a guide to the wildlife, flora and fauna of Las Salinas - Calpe’s salt lagoon.

The internatio­nal day to show off the diversity of such important ecosystems is Saturday, February 1 and it marks an ideal opportunit­y to learn more about one of the town’s natural features.
