Take a trip to the Emerald City!

- By Irena Bodnarec

Once again, the Broadway Performance Academy are bringing a classic show to the Casa de Cultura in Alfaz del Pi.

For two nights only – Friday and Saturday, January 24 and 25 you can put behind ‘Brexit Blues’ and enjoy a different version of the classic and much loved story of ‘The Wizard of Oz’. A real family affair, it has been written, directed and choreographed by Matt and Rebecca King, together with their daughter Chloe Troch. This is now the 12th production put on by the trio, which gets bigger and better each time.

From The Munchkins and Winkies to the three Good and two Bad witches, the story of Dorothy and her friend Toto runs its course as never before… and of course, over the rainbow in the land of Oz. “We have tried to steer away a little from the traditional pantomime story this year and the dances and themes inside the story are particularly relevant to today’s issues” said Matt.

With 60 plus performers and stage crew, Broadway productions always prove to be the highlight of the year for many, regardless of age. Rebecca said “It’s definitely our younger dancers – The Minions, that steal the show this time round - however the level and standard of dance and performance is second to none and wouldn’t look out of place in any West End musical theatre”.

Doors open at 7pm and show starts 7.30pm sharp. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 636 929 680 – seats are pre-assigned so book early to avoid disappointment.

Start the year The Broadway Way – Fun, Laughter and a Good Story! Happy New Year 2020.
