Marina Alta Golf Society

-

With members still on their travels, Marina Alta Golf Society fielded a few more members than last week’s game when 12 members and 3 guests took to Oliva Nova golf course on Monday January 13

The Society’s start time was delayed (1st tee time should have been 10.40am) by 1 hour due to some ground frost overnight, who would have believed it after the warm days over the weekend.

The weather later in the day was kind to the players with warm sunshine (14-16C) and little wind and for most of the players the kind of day where you were wishing you had your shorts on and not long trousers. As expected, the course was in great condition with slightly firm greens which were running a little fast.

Making the most of the great conditions saw stalwart member Alan Tissington take first place with 39 points and playing off a 23 handicap. Well done Alan and I’m sure your handicap will dip a bit.

Second place went to another stalwart player Paul Fraser with 38 points and playing off a 23 handicap. I see another handicap dip coming.

Third place went to Clark

Bowie with 34 points off a 32 handicap. Clarke has only been back a few days after Xmas in Scotland so may be a few lessons at St A helped

There was one two recorded and it was Pete Gardiner on hole 16. Well done Pete.

NTP winners: hole 3 was guest Maurice Dunk, hole 5 in 2 shots Paul Fraser, hole 16 Peter Middleton and Dave Reid in 2 on hole 18.

The Marina Alta Golf Society plays every Monday at the Oliva Nova course and is open to welcoming new members or guests interested in playing with the Society and who knows, becoming members in due course.
