Happy shoppers - but there's lots more to enjoy with Calpe U3A
On Wednesday, January 15 Calpe U3A members and friends set off on the first trip of 2020 to La Zenia boulevard shopping centre near Torrevieja. We were greeted by Kerry of our travel team and our driver Gerrard.
We were blessed with fine weather and sunshine on our journey and we arrived at our destination at 11.00am right to the front door of the complex; boasting 150 outlets cafes and restaurants.
Our party dispersed to their choice of shop and after coffee and later lunch we met up to compare notes and boast of the bargains we had purchased.
After several group photos we boarded the coach; the overhead storage was bursting at the seams with the many shopping bags! The chat was friendly and humorous.
At 7pm we were back at the drop off points in Calpe. a big thank you to all concerned.
“Beginners Bridge” group run by Jim wainwright takes place at Spassos restaurant la fossa beach 7pm on a Wednesday. If you ever wanted to learn to play bridge this is your chance. More details at the Calpe U3a Web site www.u3acalpe.org
A bodega trip is planned for Saturday, March 21 to The Gandía Bodega in the Utiel -Requena wine region followed by lunch at the Hotel Tollo in nearby Requena.Cost of trip is €35. Contact Rod Anterton on tranderton@yahoo.com for more details.
Our next meeting is on Thursday, February 20 with our speaker John Hopwood who will give us an illustrated talk about ‘The double life of and amazing art of Grayson Perry’.
Doors open 10.am for signing in etc and meeting starts at 11am at Sol Ifach Hotel Calpe.
