Workers to benefit from HR app

- By Jo Pugh

Benitachell town hall has been immersed in a process of technological modernisation. The most relevant measure has been carried out in the human resources department with the establishment of a new transfer system.

This is called the HRLOG application, through which the person in charge of human resources has a platform for the fully automated management of requests made by the town hall workers. After several weeks of tests and courses for employees to become accustomed to this new system, it has now been commissioned.

This means workers now have a portal through their smartphone or tablet which facilitates day-to-day operations, with features such as check-in and check-out, holiday management, absences and leave days, overtime and payroll consultation.

The town hall is also working on data protection in order to adapt the town hall to new regulations.

CIVIL Protection volunteers in Benitachell have been thanked once again by the town hall for the huge amount of work they undertook in 2019.

A few days ago, the annual report of the group was presented, which shows all the hours and services performed. In 2019, they worked a total of 2,113 hours, 901 more than the previous year, spread over 224 services.

The work is of the group is well known and valued by all the residents of Benitchell. The organisation has been active since December 2009 and every year since has proved to be more essential. Year after year, their involvement and dedication grows, and volunteers continue to fight against fires and other emergencies.

Of crucial importance were the 92 days - 54 more than the previous year - of forest surveillance during the months of July, August, September and October in the riskiest areas of the town, mainly at Puig Llorença. Thanks to a subsidy of €6,724.74 from a fire prevention campaign by the Valencian regional government, the 21 volunteers who make up the group allocated 824 hours to this work, more than double the hours of 2018. They travelled 5,245 kilometres during patrols, compared to 2,128 in the summer of 2018.

Regarding meteorological warning episode, it is worth highlighting the role they played together with the local police during the September storms. They performed many preventative maintenance tasks such as drain cleaning, cutting the access to the top of Puig Llorença due to the risk of a thunderstorm and the closure of Cala Moraig due to strong waves and the risk of landslides.

Other services performed included 13 emergencies which consisted of three fires, two accidents, a false alarm regarding a forest fire and four red rain alerts. They also managed 51 preventive holiday services, seven days of internships or training, three training courses in the IVASPE (Valencian Institute of Public Security and Emergencies), four services with the Benitachell School Training Unit, and six collaboration services with neighbouring Civil Protection groups.

They have already been kept very busy this year as well, with the arrival of storm Gloria. They dealt with fallen street lights, trees and traffic circulation problems in the days that followed. For their hard work, Benitachell town hall had already thanked the group by holding an anniversary party last December.

“Selfless dedication, taking hours away from your private life to keep our town safe, is priceless. They are there whenever they are needed for any type of emergency”, said María José Ivars, the councillor for public safety, this week.
