U3A Golf Teulada-Moraira

Report from Bonalba

On January 29, 18 members of U3A Golf Teulada-Moraira made the journey to Bonalba Golf Course, situated on the outskirts of Alicante and about an hour’s drive.

The weather was exceptional for the time of year with a clear/part cloudy sky and light winds.

Unfortunately one player was sick and couldn't make it but the notice was too late to let the agent/course know.

We had our usual sweep stake for the number of balls lost but on this occasion nobody picked up the money.

It will roll over to the next event at Levante. The format for the day was Individual stableford with two nearest the pins

The course was in reasonable condition although the fairways were scrappy in places. Some of the pin placements were very difficult indeed and anybody with a ball above the hole couldn't stop the putt. The consensus was quick greens are fine but they must be fair. Overall the greens were blemish free.

The results for the Stableford

competition were:

1st with a score of 40 points (and cut plenty), Robin Woods

2nd with a score of 39 points, Gordon Mitchell

3rd with a score of 36 points, Neal Pedlingham (new member).

Nearest the pins, both won by Gordon Mitchell (quite a day).

Congratulations to all our winners and as a reminder our next game will be at Levante on

February 12. The format will be Individual stableford and there are still places available.

To play for the society you first need to be a member of the U3A Moraira/Teulada which meets on the first Monday of every month at the Salóns G.L, Avenida del Mediterráneo 32, Teulada at 10:30., except July and August. All new members welcome whatever you’re standard of golf.
