Marina Alta Golf Society

-

Game on Monday,e February 10 Another great Monday morning at the Oliva Nova course as 14 members of Marina Alta Golf Society and just two guests teed off in a singles stableford game on a beautiful morning for golf. The weather was very kind to the players with blue skies a nice 17-21C temperature with a little breeze blowing for the first 6-8 holes which give rise with some players to think "do I have enough club or not?".

The course was still in clean-up mode after the storm but overall the course was in good condition with the greens running a little fast, well for me any way with too many 3 putts.

Today in 1st place it was Capt. Pete Gardiner with 36 points off a 22 handicap. I was playing in the same foursome with Pete and I must say some of his shots today were not the kind of play we have seen of late, talk about different! Yet he was able to scramble along on each hole and score a point at least on 17 of the holes, so well done Pete. I heard tell of other players who said, “I was doing OK until the last few holes “, well we all have days like that, some more than others.

In second place was Keith

Sinden with 34 points off a 20 handicap on countback with 2 other players. There were no 2’s today.

NTP on hole 3 it was Denis McVeigh , on hole 5 in 2 shots it was Alan Tissington while Paul Fraser took the prize in 2 shots on hole 18.

The Marina Alta Golf Society is a small but friendly group of players who play every Monday at the Oliva Nova course with first tee time being about 10.40.

If you want to join this friendly group of golfers as a guest then a warm welcome will be waiting for you.

Anyone interested please contact Denis McVeigh at mcveigh1@hotmail.com or telephone 638 401 170 or Alan Tissington at alantissington@ gmail.com or call 656 831 893.
