Alfaz Fantasy Football League

-

Week 24

The inclement weather in England and a fragmented Premier League fixture list due to the winter break for our tired footballers ("Aw") meant that the Alfaz Fantasy Football League also took a battering, with only three F.A. Cup 4th Round replays and three Premier League games at the weekend going into the mix, giving the Fantasy League just 20 goals, 1 clean sheet, 17 yellow cards and no red ones. The average score was a paltry 5 points.

With it being a low scoring week there was no changes at the top of our four major leagues.

The current leaders of our main league Wade's Alli Barber did manage to increase their advantage at the top to 26 points over 2nd placed Chris's Promotion Again.

Top mover in the top ten was Kevin's team So Var So Good, who jumped up four places to 8th after his team scored a very respectable 23 points, 20 of them coming from Spur's Son (10) and Everton's Richarlison (10).

Down at the bottom, Bob's team The Strikers seem to be settling in as they have been there for the last five weeks and at the moment they trail Gil's Kippax by 56 points.

In our Mark Carter Ladies section, Liz's team Cookies Crew 61 closed the gap on the leaders Debbie's Foxy Filberts but its still is a healthy 58 point advantage.

At the other end, Gil's Kippax had a good week collecting 11 points which has put them 4 points behind Lyn's Handbrake City.

Harley's Ginger Ninjar are showing no signs of giving up the summit of our Junior League as they have now moved 19 points clear of Luca's Lucky Red F.C. who are themselves coming under pressure from Robbie's Pique Blinders who are only 9 points away.

A few weeks ago I would have awarded Romeo's team My Dad Supports Liverpool the wooden spoon as they were 60 points behind the nearest team but in recent weeks they have shown signs of recovery and are now just 19 points behind Boden Boys at the bottom.

Points were hard to come by in our Across the Costa's Golden Boot League. Only four teams in the top 25 scored points and they were Ginger Ninjar (5) ,Shackladies Dream Team (7) Laurel and Varrdy (12) and Dinty Dave also with 12 points.

However Pompey Hammers remain top for the 2nd week while at the opposite end, Mark's Tory Boys United remain rooted in the bottom spot.

Our Champion of Champions League is all but done and dusted with Wade's Alli Barber over the Hills and faraway with a incredible 131 point distance between them and Martin's Marauders.

Down at the foot of the table, Gil's Kippax have moved to within 7 points of Luna's Liver Birds.

Three teams will go into our Monthly Wine Draw and they are our top scoring team of the week Sharon's Rovers and Out with 28 points thanks to Newcastle's young striker Sean Longstaff and Spurs Son who scored 20 of that total, the 2 teams joining them are our lowest scoring which is Steven's Vote for Pedro and Colleen's Winning Post, both with a minus 3.

Manager of the month for February is being kindly sponsored by the Brew Rock in Albir who provide a super international menu as well as having live music daily.

With just two weeks gone Tommy's Quantrill's Raiders are still leading the way with 11 point gap over Kyle's All Stars.

Also in contention for this excellent meal for two is Kath's Bingo Babes, Liverpool 94 and Chip's Choice.

There were three fourth Round F.A. Cup replays which influenced the top places in our F.A.Cup League.

Terry's team Could it be this Year, took over the top spot and now have a single point lead over two teams in 2nd place, Vina's City Link and Grahem's Laurel and Vardy.

The early front-runners Inter Rubber and Mason United have both slipped down to 5th & 6th.

Down in the basement, Old Salfordians have still only got 1 point and are 5 points adrift of Joe's Stevie D XI and Chris's Dyson D.C.11.

Well with the winter break still going on this week let’s hope for some better results for the A.F.F.L.
