Facelift for Teulada town hall
TEULADA town hall is to undergo extensive renovations and repairs thanks to a grant from the ministry for housing and bioclimatic architecture.
The project will include rehabilitation, reforming and improvement works to the building for functional, environmental and energy efficiency optimisation. It includes the renovation of roofs, facades and a possible extension to the building.
The execution period, once the budget and project have been approved, will be between nine and 12 months. It will consist of demolishing and rebuilding the terraces and roofs of the building, and incorporating insulation and waterproofing, creation of enclosures that improve energy efficiency, masonry work on existing elements, reform and replacement of skylights and exterior carpentry.
It entails an investment of €499,544 that will be paid in its entirety by the Valencia regional government.
The town hall has suffered various damage throughout its history which has not been repaired. Following heavy rain in 2019, the building began to deteriorate and leak. The worst of these leaks was over the music hall, forcing some rooms to be closed. There is also damage over the municipal archive and over the first floor.
The council thanked the regional government for its support for the project, saying: “Its total financing will enable the work that is necessary and essential to condition this building after so many years”.
Mayoress Rosa Vila thanked regional councillor Rubén Martínez, who had visited Teulada in December 2019 to look at projects to improve public buildings.
