Councils’ boost for small businesses
Rojales and Guardamar town halls offer aid
SELF-employed residents and owners of small businesses in Rojales can now apply for aid from the town hall.
The council has created a total fund of €125,000 to help firms that have been financially affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
This was achieved by reallocating funds from elsewhere in the municipal budget, which was unanimously approved at a full council meeting, explained councillor for commerce Miriam Trives.
“The local government, after hearing from workers affected by the Covid-19 situation, decided to help by offering direct aid because what they need is liquidity,” she said.
The amount available to each applicant varies from €300 to €500 in order to reach as many people as possible.
The aid will be granted quickly in order to boost the local economy, so that these businesses can maintain their activity and their employees, and cushion the drastic reduction in their income, explained the councillor.
“The objective is to prevent this emergency situation from causing irreversible economic and social consequences,” added Sra Trives.
More information is available from the local development agency (ADL) and applications can be made online via the ‘sede electrónica’ section of the town hall website until the deadline of July 9.
Guardamar del Segura town hall has allocated a total of €100,000 in aid for self-employed workers struggling with the economic effects of the pandemic.
This is available to those who were forced to close their businesses due to the state of emergency, and also those whose turnover dropped by at least 40% compared to the average for the six months previous to the state of emergency.
The amounts available are up to €600 per applicant and the deadline to apply is July 3.
Application forms can be downloaded from the town hall website and presented at either the registry office or online via the ‘sede electrónica’ section.
