Summer surgeries open on Marina Alta beaches

- By Samantha Kett

'SUMMER surgeries' opened on Marina Alta beaches on Wednesday to ensure full medical cover for everyone at the busiest time of the year when the influx of tourists swells the population threefold.

Calpe, Jávea and Benissa seafront practices will be open to the public until Sunday, September 6, and the existing auxiliary clinic in Moraira will open afternoons and evenings during this time as back-up.

The health centres will operate Monday to Saturday inclusive, meaning anyone who falls ill, has an accident or is stung by a jellyfish or mosquitoes on a Sunday should head to their nearest walk-in clinic, or emergencies at the main practice in their town.

Calpe's La Fosa beach and Jávea's Arenal surgeries are open 10.00 to 18.00 on weekdays, and until 15.00 on Saturdays, whilst the centre on Benissa's La Fustera beach opens daily from noon to 15.00, except Sundays.

Moraira's second health centre will open 08.00 to 20.00 non-stop on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 13.00 to 20.00 on Tuesdays and

Thursdays.

No pop-up clinic will open in Dénia, but the area health authority, run by Marina Salud, says it will bring in extra personnel.

Covid-19 procedures

Anyone who believes they have any of the symptoms compatible with Covid-19, even if only one on the list and even if only very mildly, should immediately head to the main health centres in the towns they live or are staying in, and not wait until they feel better or worse.

If these are closed, they should call them on the 24-hour number or, if this is not available, on the free-phone 900 300 555 dedicated coronavirus line.

All health centres have separate sections set up for entry and treatment of potential

Covid-19 cases.

If all else fails, call the emergency services on 112, where several languages, including English, are spoken.
