Javea town hall’s department of culture has harnessed the power of the internet to reach out to the town’s residents and beyond.

Through the Xàbia Turisme Facebook page, everyone can enjoy music, concerts, cinema, comedy, theatre, and storytelli­ng.

LOCAL MARKETS ARE BACK IN TOWN

The traditiona­l weekly street markets have returned with stalls selling only food. There are new social distancing rules and hygiene measures to allow the stalls to welcome back the public.

The stalls are spread across the area to leave 2.5m between them and separated with a pathway for shoppers. Only stall holders - wearing gloves and masks - are allowed to touch food and produce on sale. The areas will be disinfecte­d before and after the events however, the markets will open on their normal hours, 08.00 to 13.30.

The use of masks and gloves is recommende­d.

The markets could have changed from their usual place so please contact the local authoritie­s to confirm their current location.

ALBIR CRAFTS MARKET

The traditiona­l nightly Art & Craft stalls will be back in Albir from today, Friday, July 3 until September 3.

Located beside the anchor, at the beginning of the promenade, there will be a selection of artisan stalls with a selection of leather goods, jewellery, ceramics and glass ware, natural cosmetics, hair braiding, henna tattoos and caricature artistes. In addition, a little further down in the Frax Foundation car park, the children’s amusement park is open, with a range of rides, bouncy castles plus a tapas bar.

NORDIC WALKERS ARE BACK!

The Nordic Walkers Club of Alfas have resumed their outdoor activities after 2 months of lockdown not long ago. They meet twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday, from 8pm until 9pm.

Nordic Walking is a sport that makes 90% of the body'´s muscles work – around 600, increases general flexibilit­y and strengthen­s the immune system. Recommende­d for all ages the sessions are limited to a maximum of 15 people and use of masks is mandatory.

CARTAGENA

THE RETURN OF THE ROMANS

Cartagena’s Roman forum district – which includes the archaeolog­ical remains of the thermal baths, the banquet hall and the temple of the goddess Isis – is open again to visits. City hall noted that the site has been chosen as it stands in the open air and two-metre social distancing can easily be observed. The Roman forum district will be open from Friday to Sunday.

Tickets cost €4 – or €8 including the museum of the Roman theatre.

AUTOCINE DRIVE-IN REOPENS

This drive-in cinema in Denia is the first film theatre in the region to reopen.

Entries cost €5 per person and will cover both films, but the car goes free, and can be bought online from https://autocinedr­ivein.com, which can be switched into English if required. Gates open at 19.30, then the first fillm is on at 21.30 and second one will be on show at 23.00.
