Health centres bring in Covid protocol
Anti-coronavirus prevention measures reinforced
HEALTH centres have been adapted in order to ‘reinforce the contention of Covid-19 during the recovery phase from the pandemic’.
Councillor for health Ana Barceló explained that the changes have been made around the Valencia region.
She added that they are reinforcing anti-coronavirus prevention measures at health centres, while normal services are being resumed.
Sra Barceló stressed that the action plan is designed to reduce the risk of contagion in the buildings.
One of the main elements is limiting the number of people who enter ‘for the safety of patients and healthcare professionals’.
She said they have established ‘two different circuits’ in health centres – ‘one for Covid and the other for nonCovid’.
This will ensure that anyone who might have the virus will be kept away from other patients.
Sra Barceló noted that risk assessments were carried in every centre before the protocol was established.
The extension of opening hours in the afternoons at some centres will also prevent overcrowding, councillor.
The regional health department is still advising residents to phone their health centre for non-urgent appointments with their doctor, rather than attending in person.

Virus situation
Sra Barceló noted that of all Spain’s regions, Valencia has the fifth lowest incidence of Covid-19.
This shows that the regional health service is ‘containing the virus’, she stated.
Between May 11 and July 5 they detected 22,438 possible cases of Covid-19 in the region, of whom 92.4% were given a PCR test – and only 1% returned a positive result.
In Alicante province this was even lower – 7,639 possibles, with 91.8 % of them tested and 0.7 % returning a positive result.
