ALICANTE ART EXHIBITION

ALTEA BALCONY ART
The annual exhibition of balcony art is now on display in Altea old town until August 30.
This year 47 artistes are displaying their canvases, but sadly due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, there was no official inauguration ceremony.
Many of the pieces are on the main street leading up to the church and roads leading off it, but a map has been produced indicating each piece and available at the Casa de Cultura and Tourist Information office. The exhibition is on display in Altea until August 30 and will then move to Alfaz del Pi – September 4 until October 2 and lastly to Benimantell, November 14 until December 14.
LLIRIA
JOSÉ MANAUT EXHIBITION
Llíria is hosting an exhibition in honour of paintor José Manaut Viglietti called “José Manaut: de l’exili a Edeta” (from exile to Llíria).
José Manaut was born in Llíria in 1898 and was a prominent disciple of Joaquín Sorolla. The exhibition will be up until August 28 in the town’s Ca la Vila, and can be visited during the month of July from Tuesday to Friday from 19.00 to 21.00, and in August, attendees must make a reservation by calling 962790433 from 09.00 to 14.00.
ROJALES
QUICKLIME IS HISTORIC HERITAGE
Until August 10: Use of quicklime (‘cal viva’ in Spanish) to restore buildings is an ancestral craft which in Rojales has been applied to preserve the cave houses in the neighbourhood of El Rodeo.
These distinctive old homes are now occupied by artists and used as studios, galleries and shops.
An exhibition about the work of the craftspeople has opened at the Rojales museum of archaeology and palaeontology.
The museum opens Monday to Friday from 09.00-13.00 and Saturdays in July from 10.00-13.00, and it is located in the Plaza de España in the town centre.
