JVHelp shop is back in business!
Great news folks, after several weeks of hectic refurbishment, and not least some structural repairs, Jalo´n Valley Help welcomed back their customers with a glass of cava. There has been some reorganisation due to social distancing requirements but the shop is now well and truly back in business offering a much greater level of good quality items than ever before. So come on in and take a look around, we're sure that you will find something that catches your eye.
In talking about the refurbishment Elaine Horton, President, commented "I am so proud of our volunteers, we are all living in unusual times and, despite all the difficulties we are facing, our volunteers have continued to help those in need. When problems arose with the Jalón shop premises they simply got on with the repairs and redecorating, all this in the heat of the summer and on top of their other duties. They are simply a great bunch of people doing their very best for this community and right now they could do with some help.
Over recent months Jalón Valley Help has taken a huge financial ‘hit’, with three shops closed throughout ‘lockdown’ and no ability to fundraise during that period. We are now really beginning to feel the impact and there is no doubt that we will need to make some difficult decisions later on in the year. That said we are determined to maintain our services to the most vulnerable. In recent weeks we have continued to support folk in residential care, filled our van with food for the needy and provided financial assistance to ADIMA a local charity who provide support to children and adults with learning difficulties.
We have now just restarted fundraising activities with a very successful event at the bull ring in Alcalalí last week and more events in the pipeline. Why not join us at Los Arcos, Pedreguer on August 27 to listen to the very talented Entertainers or at El Cid, Benedoleig on September 9 for afternoon tea and a flower arranging demonstration." Volunteers needed
In order to maintain our essential services we are desperately seeking assistance of those with time on their hands to work in our shops. With many of our existing volunteers unable to work at the present time due to underlying health issues, our shops are functioning with only a skeleton staff so life is very difficult for us all at the moment.¨
If you can you help us please give us a call on 659 624 643 or drop into any of our shops in Alcalali, Jalón and Orba...we are waiting for you to join us.
