Matt Cook and Javier Carrión will lead the first team in Honors Division B

La Vila Rugby team playing in the Division of Honor B already has coaches. Matt Cook (pictured left) will repeat as Head Coach (1st coach) before the good results of last year, taking the blue and white team to the doors of the play off classification of promotion to DHA. A firm commitment to continue fighting among the top positions and have options for promotion to the highest category.

In the absence of Hernán Quirelli, who started the project together with the Unión Rugby Almería and who last year served as the club's sports director, for this stage the first team of the Marina Baixa is joined by the international Javier Carrión (right) , well-known for by the Vila fans for his role on the field of play, and with a great track record in elite rugby, being a player with the red elastic for many years, coming to represent Spain in the Rio 2016 Olympics. This season he will coach the three quarterback forming a team with Matt Cook in this new project, as well as the Rugby La Vila Academy together with the other coaches and sports coaches who will be presented shortly.

Therefore, the senior team of Division of Honor B during the 2020/2021 season will be under the tutelage of two great figures of La Vila rugby (they were part of the same team when they were Champions of Division of Honor 2010/2011 and participated in the European competition Amlin Challenge Cup, among other achievements) and with knowledge of the international oval (both Matt and Javi will contribute their experience in their different stages as players of the Spanish National Team)

On August 4, the preseason for the male senior will start, adapting the training sessions to preventive health measures against Covid19. There is a provisional start date for the Honor B Division competition for October 11, but the club continues to be informed daily of any changes coming from the health authorities and official sports bodies to adapt to the circumstances.

Meanwhile, the board of directors and the different coaching and training teams continue to work on the process and protocol of reincorporation to the game within a renewed and optimistic project, with the hope of continuing to provide hope and a mentality of overcoming obstacles to the players, family members and the whole of the Villajoyosa ruby society, in the current situation.
