U3A Vall Del Pop re-start

- By Peter Sockett

With August too hot for anything other than sitting by the pool, on Thursday, August 6 , the TCET re-started their coffee mornings, this time alongside the pool at El Cid, Benidoleig. The tables were laid out in accordance with the new requirements, with hand sanitising and all precautions taken.

Over 30 members attended and it was lovely to see so many socialising and catching up with friends, with some reflection on lockdown experiences. The coffee was completed with lovely cakes and the morning was rounded off with a small raffle, to raise funds for the Goodwill Team.

Some members took the opportunity to renew their membership, a process that has been interrupted due to Covid restrictions. The next coffee morning at El Cid will be on August 27, starting at 10.30am. Do come along and enjoy time with friends.

The Goodwill Team are canvasing possible interest in a sponsored walk in the orange groves around Orba. Two routes are being considered, 5km and 8km, and two possible dates - October 4 and 11. Entry fee €8, and additional sponsorship welcomed. Please respond by August 22 to janetduffield@ hotmail.com to express interest and preference.

On Sunday, September 20, the Goodwill Team are proposing to hold this year's walking treasure hunt, starting and ending in Jalón. Entry fee €8. Please register your team by September 15 via email to mcfgroupsu3a@gmail.com or at the Murla General Assembly.

All money raised will go to the Goodwill Team charity fund, with an even greater need for help this year - so please sign up for both events or sponsor others.
