Film festival escapes Covid drama
ORGANISERS of the ninth annual RuiRau Film Festival are confident their script for a successful screening will avoid the complications caused by the Covid-19 health crisis.
The RuiRau Film School stages the festival in four locations in Jesús Pobre, Dénia, Javea and Pedreguer over the first and second weekends of September.
The programme has been put together after a mammoth 370 high-quality short films were received from 27 countries around the world including the USA, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Dominican Republic,
Cuba, Mexico, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Britain, Andorra, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Macedonia, Turkey, Iran, Morocco, Benin, Indonesia, India and, of course, Spain.
The films are divided into different sections: general fiction, LGBTI fiction, Valencian Catalan fiction, and social issues - this year this section is dedicated to the environment and the sea.
The Javea riurau is the base for screenings over the weekend of September 11 and 12. To follow Covid protocols, it is necessary to pre-register and reserve free tickets via the website www.ruiraufilmfestival.com.
The RuiRau Film School evolved from the Denia Film
School and was launched in 2011 and welcomes members from both towns; it aims to share knowledge of cinema and the necessary skills to create audiovisual productions.
Students who successfully complete their work each year are automatically invited to exhibit them to the festival every year - which is how the short film festival was born.
