Alfaz Fantasy Football League - review of season

- By Eric Malpus

L ast season's P remier L eag ue was not as ex citing as the prev ious season with L iv erpool hav ing tak en complete control after C hristmas and the only chance of them not winning it would hav e been the coronav irus interv ention. W hen play did resume, the g ames came thick and fast. M anchester U nited and to a lesser ex tent S purs both benefited from the break as R ashford & P og ba for U nited and for S purs S on & K ane all returned to action after being ruled out till the end of the season.

Not only did the P remier L eag ue put up with pandemic they also had V A R inv olv ed who by the way had more assists than M anchester C ity's K ev in D e B ruyne.

C helsea's A merican star player P ulisic scored early on in the F .A . C up F inal to g iv e C hris's team P romotion A g ain this season's A lfaz F antasy F ootball L eag ue C hampionship.

T op players in last season's F antasy L eag ue were in g oal, L eicester C ity's K asper S chmiechel (1 0 0 pts) who just beat S heffield U nited's brilliant on loan k eeper H enderson by just 3 points. T op defenders both came from

L iv erpool so no surprise there with A lex ander A rnold hav ing a g reat season pick ing up a tally of 1 4 5 points which includes four g oals and plenty of assists. T eam mate V irg il V an D ijk was the closest to him with 1 3 2 points which also included four g oals.

T op midfielder, and in my opinion best player in the P remier L eag ue is M anchester C ity's K ev in D e B ruyne with a haul of 1 9 4 points. T wo more L iv erpool players were up there challeng ing the B elg ian star with g reedy S alah (1 8 4 pts) and S adio M ane (1 7 1 ).

M ov ing on to the top strik ers, A rsenal's A ubameyang was the top scoring player in the 2 6 th A .F .F .L . with 2 0 6 points to his name which was one more than L eicester C ity's fox in the box J amie V ardy. T he nearest player to those two hig h flyers was S outhampton's D anny Ing s with a tally of 1 7 3 points which puts him in line for the barg ain of the season as he only cost 5 million and only for manag ers had the nous to select this former L iv erpool player.

T op player in the G olden B oot L eag ue was M anchester C ity's R aheem S terling with 1 4 7 points leav ing L iv erpool's M o S alah trailing 1 4 points behind.

A ltog ether the P remier L eag ue and F .A . C up ties inv olv ing P remier sides g av e last season's F antasy L eag ue 1 1 6 6 g oals, 2 3 4 clean sheets. 1 3 9 8 yellow cards and 5 1 red cards which was one more than last season.

T he referees awarded 1 0 0 penalties, I 'm not sure how many were g iv en by V A R . M anchester U nited had the most with 1 6 , three more than M anchester C ity. E v erton and S heffield U nited had the least with one apiece, maybe their players hav e not discov ered the dark art of div ing .

A rsenal was the big g est culprits when it comes to hav ing players sent off with no fewer than six players g oing for the early bath. T here were only 3 7 own g oals with Norwich, W atford and B rig hton leading the way by helping out their opponents on three occasions.

T he C up F inal referee A nthony T aylor dished out the most cards last season 1 2 2 yellow and fiv e red ones while M ik e D ean was just behind him with 1 1 0 yellow and four red.

D on't forg et the nex t season will soon be upon us so it won't be long before the 2 7 th A lfaz F antasy F ootball L eag ue g ets g oing ag ain so k eep an eye on these pag es for all the latest news.
