■ Last week, at the National Trust tournament in Boston, Massachuce­ttes, American Scottie Scheffler became only the 12th golfer in PGA tour history to register a sub 60 round when carding a 59, which included 12 birdies. Dustin Johnson won the tournament on 11 under par.

■ London heavyweigh­t Dillian Whyte's hopes of a world-title shot were wrecked last Saturday as Alexander Povetkin twice rose from the canvas to land a knockout win. The Russian had been out-boxed for three rounds and was down twice in the fourth as Whyte mixed poise with power. But then came one sensationa­l right upper-cut which stunned the world of boxing!

■ Also in the ring, Shakan Pitters achieved his best-ever win by beating Chad Sugden on points to become the British Light-heavyweigh­t champion.

■ In the final Test against Pakistan which ended on Tuesday, Kent’s Zak Crawley hit a brilliant 267 as England amassed 583-8 declared in their first innings. This was Crawley’s maiden Test century and his first double hundred as he moved up to 10th in the list of England’s highest scoring batsmen in one innings. He and Joss Buttler (152) also set a record fifth wicket stand of 359. The nine players who’ve achieved a higher Test score than Crawley are Len Hutton 364, Wally Hammond 336, Graham Gooch 333, Andy Sandham 325, John Edrich 310, Alastair Cook 294, Tip Foster 287, Peter May 285 and Dennis Compton 278.

In this game England's James Anderson became the first paceman to reach the milestone of 600 Test Match wickets.

■ And the last two European competitio­ns of the season were won by Sevilla and Bayern Munich. The Spaniards beat Inter Milan 3-2 to win the Europa League final for the fourth time in seven years while Bayern defeated PSG 1-0 to register their sixth Champions League triumph.
