New home for Torrevieja U3A

- By Torrevieja U3A Press Officer, Barry Weston

TORREVIEJA U3A is pleased to announce that starting on October 30 it will be holding its monthly meetings at a new venue, namely Los Angeles bar and restaurant in Torrevieja.

This change follows months of non- meetings, brought about by the continued closure of the CMO building. As it does not appear likely that the CMO will reopen to us at any time in the near future, the committee has searched for, and now settled on, this new venue in which it can hold its monthly meetings.

Doors will be open to the members from 10.00, to allow normal business ( membership, books, coffees, booking events, etc.) to be carried out, and the main meeting will commence at 11.00, as it did previously. This will be followed, as usual, by a speaker and the meeting will conclude with an entertainer.

Meals can also be purchased on site. At the time of writing there is not a ‘ menu del día’ available specifically for U3A members, but it is hoped this may well change in the very near future.

All the usual facilities will be on site as before, and it is hoped that everything will run smoothly and that

we can continue meeting in Los Angeles for the foreseeable future.

The most important facts to note are that meetings will now be on the last Friday of each month. The internal space at the venue is much smaller than we have been used to in the past but there is ample covered external seating available. Also the amount of on- site parking is limited. There is ample street

parking and the A2 bus service passes by the street.

U3A groups will also be able to hold their meetings here as well should they wish to do so.

Further details of the above and events that will be taking place on the 30th will be contained in this month’s newsletter and can also be found on our website torreviejau3a. org. Details will also be available on our Facebook page.
