Happy Tails Auction of Promises
THE SUN shone, store holders arrived, and the scene was set at La Zona in Los Alcázares for Happy Tails’ Auction of Promises, which took place on Wednesday, October 7.
A total of 18 stores bearing a fantastic variety of products set up at 10.30. Lots of people, masked, sanitised and socially distanced, enjoyed a drink or a meal in the lovely setting whilst they studied the list of fantastic lots offered by local tradespeople.
All of the 39 lots were sold, with everything from hair- dos and make up, car repairs, oven cleans, house cleans, Spanish/ English wills and many other bargains all being snapped up.
Joanne Scott was our fabulous auctioneer, making sure that everyone knew what was going on, whilst Elaine and Lotus Flower took the information. Linda Wainman, Paul and Lesley Eburne were responsible for handing out the confirmation letters and
taking the money, which totalled an amazing € 1,625.
Happy Tails wants to say: “Thank you to everyone involved. There are too many people to mention. The monies raised were donated to representatives of PAPS ( Protectora Animales Perros del Sol), LIPS ( Los Infiernos Perrera Supporters), and Asociación Únicos, who were thrilled to receive such great amounts, especially with the pandemic problems.”
Event organiser Lesley Eburne said: “We are delighted to be able to hand this money over to these shelters who work tirelessly to look after so many
abandoned, sick, new born puppies and mistreated animals. We will now concentrate on the Christmas collection of toys, towels, food, treats, and medications for these three charities and two cat centres. There is also a raffle where 24 local restaurants are offering two people a lunch/ dinner and a bottle of wine to be taken in the New Year - details of collection times for the boxes, the raffle draw, and where raffle tickets are being sold will appear regularly on Lesley Eburne's Facebook page.”
