Getting diverse in Elche
THE DIVERSA festival of LGTBI+ culture in Elche is taking place at L’Escorxador culture centre this weekend.
The opening presentation took place last night, and the celebrations continue today ( Friday) from 18.00- 21.00, with a creative theatre workshop entitled LGTBIQ+ I am what I Am, hosted by Alberto Velasco.
The workshops also take place on Saturday from 10.0014.00 and 16.00- 21.00, and Sunday from 10.00- 14.00 and 16.0019.00. The results of the workshops will be presented at a show on Sunday at 19.00.
At 21.00 on Friday there is a screening of the documentary Manolita, la chen de Arcos, followed by a round table discussion with its director, José Luis Mas.
On Saturday and Sunday at 11.00 there is a workshop entitled Con mi papá con mi Mamá ( with my father with my mother), featuring painting and games for members of the rainbow family.
At 17.00 on Saturday there is a protest T- shirt painting workshop with Vera Ying Yan; this is followed at 21.00 with a dance production by Over & Out Danza entitled Sobre algún lugar del arcoíris ( somewhere over the rainbow), which is described as a ‘ vintage’ look from the present that combines dance and theatre in a creative work performed by a ‘ diverse’ family, consisting of four female artists.
The final event of the weekend takes place at 20.30 on Sunday, when there is a poetry slam performance entitled Sexo en Verso. La mujer LTBI ( sex in verse. The LTBI woman).
