Alfaz Fantasy Football League

-

- With the international break out of the way, it was back to business for the Premier League and the Alfaz Fantasy Football League. I thought the break would slow down the action in this season's Premier League and Fantasy League but it was just the opposite with another shed load of goals at the weekend.

After 98 Premier League games we have yet to have a 0- 0 game. Altogether the eight Premier League games gave the A. F. F. L. a total of 27 goals taking the season's tally to an unprecedented score of 171 goals compared to last season's total of 145, there were only twoclean sheets, 33 yellow cards and two red ones which was Everton's Richarlison and Brighton's skipper Lewis Dunk. Throw in five more penalties and a couple of own goals and you have a cracking weekend of football mayhem.

Despite all the action, Carol’s team Sky Blues maintained their place in the number one spot of the A. F. F. L. with a slim 3 point advantage over Catherine's Pompey Hammers. Eric's Full Metal Jackets are in 3rd place just 3 points ahead of Ryan's Ctrl- Al- Delete. We have a change at the bottom with Tony Mac's Romney Rovers dropping 10 points behind Dave's Bogtrotters Rerun.

There is no change at the top of our Junior League with Clara's Babes extending their lead to 14 points over last season's champions of this section, Ginger Ninja. Two teams, Burkie's Boys and Alisson Wonderland are in joint 3rd place but they are both well away from the two frontrunners, the gap being a substantial 46 points. At the other end of the table, Olly 11 are still chasing Bez's Boys who moved further away from them by leaving them 37 points behind.

Carol's Sky Blues have started the season off in fine form but they will have to be alert to keep an eye on Catherine's Pompey Hammers who are only 3 points behind them in the main league but also in our Mark Carter ladies section.

Jackie's Winchester United who have topped this section are in 3rd place with Annette's Goalnette who have been making steady progress in 4th slot. Down at the foot of the table, Liz's Leia's Yum Yums have been there since the start of the season and at the moment they don't look likely to get out of trouble with a deficit of 23 points between them and Winnie's Le Hombre Rioja.

The Golden Boot League is once again being very competitive with only 9 points between the top five, currently Jackie's Winchester United have just got their noses in front at the top with a fragile 2 point advantage over two teams in joint 2nd place, Pompey Hammers and Clara's Babes.

Top scoring player in this league is Spur's smiling assassin Son who up to now has bagged 49 points, seven more than Liverpool's Egyptian hot shot Mo Salah. Two teams are sharing the responsibility of holding everybody else up and they are Liz's Leia's Yum Yums and Eric's Gluepot Mahou Men both 3 points adrift of Heimir's Reykjovic.

Top scoring team this week was Dave's Pepe F. C. who waded in with a total of 54 points courtesy of this week's two top scorers in the Fantasy League Spur's Harry Kane ( 15) and Chelsea's Timo Werner ( 14) who finally found the back of the net after five outings in the premier league. We have two teams with the lowest score of a single point and they are Karen's Florida Pearls and Adrian's GBS Out. All three teams go into the pot for our monthly wine draw.

Our manager of the month for October is being kindly sponsored by Gary and Nikki at the Drunken Duck in Alfaz, who provide quality food at reasonable prices. They also put on a super quiz night on a Tuesday. With two weeks to go Terry's Thallisians are in pole position with a 3 point cushion over last week's leaders Sky Blues. Simon's team, I Want My Ball Back and Eric's Full Metal Jackets are also in contention in 3rd and 4th place.
