Alfaz Fantasy Football League

- By Eric Malpus Week 18

IT was another blockbuster week in Alfaz Fantasy Football League with the average score passing the 30-point mark for the second week running. The 13 F.A. Cup ties involving Premier League clubs, plus six Premier League games gave the A.F.F.L. a total of 52 goals, 11 clean sheets, 25 yellow cards and no red ones. Once again, a lot of the Premier League managers made rafts of changes which nearly cost them. Although there were plenty of points to be had, there were no changes in the top three divisions with Clara's Babes standing firm at the top with a 35point advantage over Eric's team Full Metal Jackets. No change at the other end, with Dave's Bogtrotters Return trailing Terry's High Flying Amigos by 36 points.

In the Junior League Clara's Babes had an incredible 170 point lead over Alisson Wonderland.

Carol's Sky Blues have dominated our Mark Carter ladies section from early on but Lilian's Press Gang stood only 40 points away from the leaders.

Dave's Patangyangkipperbang, top of the Golden Boot League for the last five weeks came under pressure from last season’s winner of this section, Old Salfordians who took 2nd spot from Pompey Hammers.

Week 19

With as many as 20 Premier League games a week it's a feat keeping track of all the action taking place meaning plenty of points for our hungry Fantasy League managers as we head into the second half of the season.

The 20 Premier League games plus the F.A. Cup tie between Wycombe and Spurs gave the A.FF.L. a total of 56 goals, 13 clean sheets, 49 yellow cards and for the second week running no red ones (I think VAR has gone to sleep). The average score was over 36 points.

Clara's Babes extended their advantage at the top of the A.F.F.L. to 27 points over 2nd placed Sky Blues who had a good week ramming up 74. Eric's Full Metal Jackets drop to 3rd with Bill's East Fifers just 8 points behind them. Dave's Bogtrotters Return, don't look to be giving up bottom spot as they trail Have a Emery Xmas by 17 points.

In our Junior League Ginger Ninja have regained 2nd spot from Alisson Wonderland while at the other end of the table young Olly's 11 are 43 points adrift of Andrew's Dolphins. Clara's Runaway Babes are 183 points clear at the summit.

Carol's Sky Blues have opened up a formidable 63-point gap over Lillian's Press Gang at the top of our Mark Carter ladies section. Karen's Ceasar's Blackcats are in 3rd place followed by Pompey Hammers. At the bottom Sandra's Scorers are chasing Anne's Golden Girls.

Golden Boot League: The top scorer so far this season is Liverpool's striker Mo Salah who year after year never lets his Fantasy managers down. Patangyangkipperbang lead this section with an 18-point advantage over last season's winners, Old Salfordians. Armanello, and Do Better are battling it out at the bottom.

The fourth round of the F.A. Cup has finished meaning there are new leaders at the top of the F.A. Cup League - Dave's team, The Hatters and Flippers Dozzers are joint top with a 2point lead over Simon's My Canary Gone while at the bottom El. Nui Bros are a couple of points behind the Bentley Boys.

Top scoring team this week was Sick Note XI with 77 points while the lowest score went to Kemp United with only 7 points. Both teams enter our monthly wine draw.

January's winner of manager of the month was for Eric's Team Non-Runners who just pipped Clara's Babes to win a meal for two at Sarita's in Albir.

Our K.O. Cup competition took place last weekend but it hasn't been possible to collate scores in time for this publication. They should be up on the website - www.alfazffl.com soon.
